The most-reviewed class

You make three things: a causa de pollo (layered potato, avocado and chicken), a ceviche, and a pisco sour with its egg-white foam. The page lists lunch, an alcoholic drink, bottled water and cookware as included, and gratuities as optional. It meets on Calle Bolívar in Miraflores, and the page lists wheelchair users and people with mobility impairments as not suitable.

The home-kitchen class

This one is taught by the owners, a chef with more than 15 years in restaurants and his wife, in their home, which you reach from a meeting point in Miraflores. You taste exotic fruits and the family’s own piscos, then prepare a fish ceviche and a tuna tartare plus a pisco sour or chilcano, and try one dessert. The page lists a free transfer to Huaca Pucllana or El Olivar park as an option, and tips are extra. According to the booking page the class is wheelchair accessible, and the hosts write that their house has a lift. They offer vegetarian and gluten-free options and adapt the dishes to allergies if you tell them in advance.

Honest notes

  • Both classes centre on raw fish and a cocktail with egg white. The home-kitchen hosts offer vegetarian and gluten-free versions; for the other class, ask about alternatives before you book.
  • A cooking class does not replace a walk through the city. It is two and a half hours at a counter.

Our recommendation

Book the most-reviewed class for its far larger review count and the causa on the menu. Book the home-kitchen class if you want the pisco tasting.
